The Ardens Remote Review System will identify stable patients that are suitable to have a remote annual review. This will be of particular benefit to practices with unbooked routine appointments. Completing these reviews now should reduce the volume of routine work that will be arriving in General Practice once COVID19 has resolved.

It includes searches to identify suitable patients and updated clinical templates to ensure the review is completed safely and in-line with best-practice guidance and latest QOF requirements.

Installation

Existing Ardens subscribers that do not already have this installed will receive this automatically with their next update. If you require immediate access please request this using the Ardens Portal.

GP Practices that are not Ardens subscribers can arrange a remote demonstration of Ardens by e-mailing miles@ardens.org.uk.

Remote Review Searches and Reports

We have built reports that identify stable patients who are suitable for a remote review. The following is currently included (v1.8) and we are adding to these regularly:

Atrial Fibrillation - CHA2DS2-VASc score required

Asthma - Stable asthmatics needing a review and also smoking status for young patients

Cancer - Cancer care reviews due

COPD - Stable COPD patients (MRC 1-3) due annual review

Depression - Depression and interim review due

Heart Failure - Patients requiring annual review and medication adjustment

Mental Health - Review of care plan

Pill Check - Patients requiring a pill check who have had a recent BP

Rheumatoid Arthritis - Annual Review

Medication Review Due in next fortnight and next month

To locate the reports, access Population Reporting > Ardens > Ardens Remote Review Searches.

Each of these folders will include a Denominator Searches folder and relevant Report(s):

To run the reports, right click on either the individual report or entire folder and select the Run option (alternatively select the search or folder and click the Run option on the EMIS Web ribbon).

To view the results of the report once run, select the report and click on the View Results button on the ribbon (alternatively right click on the report and select the View Results option).

The Reports will provide you with a list of patients who have not had a review in this financial year, together with phone numbers and the date of their last review. Please note that if a patient has had a review at any point in the previous financial year they will still be identified. This is intentional so you may be doing an annual review less than a year after their previous review.

Reviewing Patients Remotely

We have updated our templates to help clinicians complete this review safely:

  • Multi-Morbidity Annual Review template should be used for chronic disease reviews.
  • Contraception template to be used for patients requiring a pill check.
  • Medication Reviewtemplate to complete medication reviews

Access the templates in one of the following ways

  • Click on the Run Template option within the consultation.
  • Click on the Add > Data using Template option outside of a consultation.

Clicking on either of the above will display the Template Picker screen. Search for the appropriate template using the search box provided or folder navigation pane. Select the template and click OK

We have updated each template to indicate the elements of the reviews that can potentially be completed remotely. This will be indicated by ):

Sections which are more challenging to complete remotely are indicated with a ):

Where there are blood tests or further investigations that are required and cannot be completed during COVID19 please use the Ardens Diary Recall system to add an automatic reminder to book these tests in the future. The patient will receive an email/text message/letter inviting them in for this investigation around the date you have selected. For more information about the Ardens Diary Recall System please click here.
