The Ardens Injections Template enables the recording of injections which are commonly given to adults for conditions such as Vitamin B12 Deficiency, Osteoporosis, Prostate Cancer and Endometriosis.
Access the template in the patient record in one of the following ways:
- Click on the Run Template option within the consultation.
- Click on the Add > Data using Template option outside of a consultation.
Clicking on either of the options above will display the Template Picker screen.
Search for the 'Injections' template using the search box provided or via the folder navigation pane. Select the template and click on OK to launch.
The template has been broken down by pages on the left-hand side to make it easy to navigate to the information you require.
The All injections – PSD/PGD page allows the user to record in the first section the consent, advice given or procedure refused, not carried out or not indicated. Along with options to record administration of medication under PSD or PGD.
The second section of this page will show whether a PSD or PGD is already in place. To see which medication or injection the PSD or PGD is for, click on the chevon (arrows) icon and view the details on the right hand panel. Please ensure that the PSD or PGD is there for medication that is to be administered.
The third section allows a clinician to record their authorisation for a medication or immunisation to be given under a PSD or PGD. The authorising clinician should tick the appropriate box and ensure that all relevant details of preparation, dose and route are entered into the free text box to the right.
The template shows individual pages for injections on the left panel. Click on the relevant injection page to record the administration of the medicine. Each page also includes, where appropriate, information, contraindications, a section to record monitoring and one to add a follow up or diary entry.
The following shows the Denosumab injection page with procedure section highlighted:
Please note - to record the procedure for Depo Provera, please use the Ardens Contraception Template.
Where a patient requires a repeat of an injection, a future diary entry can be entered using the Follow up section.
This diary entry will then be included in the Ardens Diary Recall System.
Ardens has also created various prescribing alerts, including an alert which will display following the issue of Denosumab, and which will prompt for tests within 4 weeks of the next dose if not already recorded.
