The following searches will support practices with identifying patients affected by the 'missing BP' EMIS bug. Please note this is an EMIS issue and the searches are only to aid practices with recording potential missing data.


Please note - practices will need to download the '1.35 Ardens Temporary-use Searches' from the Ardens portal, these searches will not be included in the regular practice search update.


Once imported, navigate to the search file.



To run the searches, right click on the Missing BP bug folder and select Run. This will run all searches in the folder.


The top search will display the number of BP readings recorded since 1st January 2022, this is using the 'O/E blood pressure reading' code.


The second search will highlight those patients where a value is missing. Click on the Population Included tab to view the list of patients and update the records accordingly. 


Missing BP Protocol

Ardens has designed a protocol which will alert practice staff at point of saving a consultation if the BP value is missing from the patient record.




The protocol can be downloaded from the Ardens Portal, for instructions on how to download, please see the following support article


Once imported for Template Manager sites, you must ensure a trigger has been set on the protocol. To do this:

  • Right click on the protocol and select Properties
  • Click on the Trigger tab. 
  • Click on Add.
  • Choose the System Trigger of Save Consultation.
  • Choose the Run Mode as Always Run.
  • Click on OK and on OK to save changes.
