The Ardens Minor injuries + burns template allows the user to record details of sprains, strains, foreign bodies, burns, scalds, whiplash and neck injury.


General examination details can also be recorded, as well as first aid administered or further management of the injury or burn, advice given and follow up, together with any onward referrals.


Access the template in one of the following ways:

  • Click on the Run Template option within the consultation.
  • Click on the Add > Data using Template option outside of a consultation.


Clicking on either of the options above will display the Template Picker screen. 

Search for the "Minor injuries + burns" template using the search box provided or via the navigation pane. Select the template and click on OK.

Use the Type of Injury page to see what this template covers, and to record the nature of the injury.

Following on from this, there are separate pages to record the specific details of the type of injury that has been sustained.


The Sprains and strains page allows the user to record details of the injury and referral for X-ray.

The Foreign bodies page facilitates the recording of the timing and mechanism of the problem, and the resulting symptoms.

The Burns and scalds page allows the recording of the history of how the burn was sustained.  A clinical diagram is also featured on this page, to allow the user to use a body map to show the location of the burn.

The Whiplash/neck injury page can be used to record timing and mechanism, symptoms and occupational history.

The General examination page enables the updating of the patient’s temperature, respiration rate, blood pressure and heart rate.

The General management page allows the user to record first aid that has been administered, further management, follow up and advice, and any onward referrals that may be made.

The Resources page includes patient information leaflets, as well as resources for healthcare professionals.

Complete the template using the required fields and ensure you save the information, using the Save option.


If using the template via the Run Template option within an open consultation, you will also need to click Save to save the consultation.
