The Ardens Asthma and COPD Safety Searches has been designed to help practices identify respiratory patients with potential safety issues.
To locate the searches, navigate to the Population Reporting module > Ardens Searches > 2.10 Prescribing - Safety Alerts > Asthma and COPD safety searches folder:
There are 3 folders of searches within this suite of searches:
Asthma or COPD on betablockers
The first search displays patients on the Asthma or COPD register who have been issued betablockers within the last 3 months.
The second search is being a little more specific and looking at your Asthma or COPD patients who have been issued with Non-Cardioselective betablockers.
Exacerbations
This folder contains a suite of searches displaying your Asthma and COPD patients that have suffered exacerbations in the past year, as well as showing patients that have been diagnosed with Asthma within the last year:
SABA Prescriptions
The searches within this folder are identifying patients diagnosed as Asthmatic who have been issued more than 3 short acting beta-agonists prescriptions in the last year and who have not been issued an Inhaled corticosteroid. They are broken down by any SABA prescription and the most common SABA medications. You may wish to review these patients to discuss their medication.
