Ardens has developed a suite of searches to support practices with the Spring 2025 COVID-19 vaccination programme. These searches will help practices identify which patients to invite based on JCVI guidance.

The eligible cohorts for the spring 2025 programme will cover:

  • Adults aged 75 and over (includes those who will turn 75yr by 17 June 2025)
  • Residents in a care home for older adults
  • Individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed, as defined in the Greenbook chapter 14a tables 3 and 4

Practices can invite eligible patients from 25th March 2025, with vaccinations taking place between 1st April 2025 and 17th June 2025.

To access the searches, navigate to the Population Reporting module > Ardens Searches > 3.10 Vaccinations - COVID Spring-25 folder.

*Although searches are automatically updated every 3-4 weeks, practices can download the most recent version of the COVID Vaccination searches from the Ardens Portal*

The search folder is broken down into the following sub-folders:

1. For review before invitation or visit

We recommend practices review this folder BEFORE sending any COVID vaccine invitations to ensure all relevant patients appear in the correct invitation lists. Once initially reviewed, we suggest monitoring this folder periodically.

The report title will clarify what information needs to be checked. For example, the ‘Query still contraindicated’ report implies a previous contradiction code had been recorded for the patient, and we recommend checking whether this needs to be reapplied for this season (on or after 1 March 2025).

Further information on the action needed can be found within the Details tab in the lower half of the screen.

2. For invitation

This folder is divided into subfolders; ALL Spring Booster Patients will include all eligible patients, and further folders broken down by cohort.

All three folders will follow a similar structure, displaying eligible patients who:

  • Have not declined or been contraindicated
  • Are not housebound
  • Have not already been vaccinated

The subfolders identify those who need a first or second invite, as well as those who have received two or more invites but remain unvaccinated. These are further broken down by invite method.

Once the report has been run, click on the View Results option on the ribbon to view the list of patients.

To view the search the report has been based on, click on the Full Hierarchy option on the ribbon.

3. For visit

This folder contains a report identifying all eligible housebound or care home patients. Separate reports then distinguish care home patients from housebound patients, with the housebound further divided by those eligible due to immunosuppression and those eligible based on age.
