The 'Info - Electronic communication options' searches identifies patients without certain contact details (i.e. mobile, email). It supports practices with managing communication via third party apps such as the NHS app.

The searches can be located in the Population Reporting module > 1.31 Administration - Registration > Info - Electronic communication options.

The Communication: Online access active search will report on the number of patients over 16 years with an active online account.

The sub search (once edited) will report on the number of patients using the NHS App. Due to an EMIS glitch, once this search is imported, it may not pick up the option for NHS App. We recommend editing the search to add as follows:

  • Right click on the Communication: <Edit search to select NHS App> and select the option for Edit
  • Highlight the features on rule 1 and double click.
  • This will open the Feature Builder screen, double click on the Online services client feature and ensure the option for NHS App is selected, untick any unnecessary options. Click OK.

  • Click OK on the Feature Builder screen.
  • Click Save and Run to display the results of the search.

The associated report will allow you to easily see this information.

The Communication: Patients with email address and no dissent / Communication: Patients with mobile number with no dissent searches will help to identify patients who had not consented to communication via this route. If managing patients via online access, you may wish to consider this.
