Always check previous immunisations in their red book, by going to Care History > Immunisations
  • MMR Catch-up page – Updated on the MMRV catch-up programme in November
  • Seasonal influenza page – Added so the flu vaccine can be recorded via the template or via the existing seasonal influenza protocol
  • Other vaccinations page – Added for Hep B and BCG vaccines to be recorded for at risk individuals
  • Safeguarding page – Added with appointment details and risk assessment

  • Various other minor and layout improvement updates

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Optum pink alert box displaying correctly? Optum have now released an update to include the new MMRV vaccination codes so the alert displays correctly
  • Will Optum publish any more product protocols? – Optum have confirmed they are adding more protocols in due course for all vaccines including the MMRV and other childhood vaccinations. The protocols are set to ‘Personally Administered’ at present as Optum are awaiting confirmation from NHSE about this.
  • Can I still give a MMR vaccine? The NHS England Guidance has been updated with a note to clarify that MMR should no longer be given and a MMRV should be given instead.
  • How do I record MMRV declined? This code does not currently exist but will be added when available. In the meantime, just use the MMR declined code on the Consent/Decline page of the Ardens template
  • Where are the MMRV 1st/2nd/3rd invite searches on Ardens? These are already available within the Ardens childhood vaccinations search folders. See Support Article.
  • Where are the 'Vaccine given by other healthcare provider' codes? These codes have been retired and should no longer be used, instead record vaccine procedure code on incomplete page + select ‘Not GMS’ and back-date as required
  • Why is the SCID field no longer available on the template? This SCID field has been removed as a full clinical check should be done before giving live vaccines, but is mentioned in the ‘No contraindications to live vaccines’ tick box on the template.
  • Why are Primary Vaccines named as 8/12/16 weeks? The Primary vaccines are named as 8/12/16 weeks not as 1st/2nd /3rd primary because the NHS prefers this as it emphasizes the critical timing for early protection.
