Introduction
The Ardens Prescribing Environmental searches assists practices with environmentally conscious prescribing and asthma management.
How to Access our Resources
1. Go to Population Reporting.
2. Expand the Ardens Searches folder.
3. Select the 2.30 Prescribing - Environmental folder.

To run the searches and reports, right click on either the individual report or entire folder and select the Run option (alternatively select the report or folder and click the Run option on the EMIS Web ribbon).
Asthma - On Repeat Inhalers
This folder contains a report identifying patients who have an inhaler recorded as repeat but do not have a recorded code confirming they have received advice on inhaler disposal procedures.

Asthma - On SABA only
This folder provides reports identifying patients who are currently prescribed only SABA inhalers. These reports may help practices review inhaler prescribing and consider whether alternative or additional treatment may be appropriate.

At Risk of Poor Asthma Control
The reports within this folder identify patients who may be at risk of poor asthma control. This may include patients who:
- Have been issued multiple asthma medications without receiving an asthma review within the last 12 months
- Have experienced an asthma exacerbation or hospital admission without appropriate follow-up after the event
These reports are intended to support proactive review and ongoing asthma management.

Greener Practice
The Greener Practice folder provides reports identifying patients who may benefit from a review of recent prescribing or blood test activity within the last 3 months. These reports are designed to support appropriate and sustainable prescribing practices.

Improving Asthma Diagnosis
This folder is designed to support practices in improving asthma diagnosis. The reports identify patients who do not currently have an asthma diagnosis recorded but who have:
- Been prescribed asthma-related medication, or
- Had an asthma-related review, care plan, or exacerbation recorded
These reports may help identify patients requiring further clinical review.

Switching Ventolin pMDI to Salamol or Airomir
This folder contains reports identifying patients who may be suitable for a medication switch.
- The first report identifies patients prescribed Ventolin Evohaler. Practices may wish to consider switching these patients to Salamol as a cost-saving alternative where clinically appropriate.
- The second report identifies patients using metered-dose inhalers (MDIs) who may be suitable for switching to a dry powder inhaler (DPI).
These reports are intended to support both prescribing optimisation and environmental sustainability initiatives.
