You can send a Med3 electronically by e-mail (or through using AccuRx ChainSMS if this is installed). The steps set out below explain how to do this.
The following video will take you through the steps needed on EMIS Web:
1. Check that you have a PDF printer installed
To check this, open a word document and choose File > Print. You should have an option there for ‘Microsoft Print to PDF’ (or something similar):
If you do not have this option, please visit https://ardens.live/install-pdf-printer for simple instructions that explain how to add a PDF printer.
2. Create the Fit Note
From within your consultation, choose Add Fit Note option located on the EMIS ribbon:
You will see the following message – click Yes:
At the stage, click on Cancel to include the fit note in the consultation.
Save the consultation once complete.
3. Reprint Duplicate Fit Note
Add or Edit a consultation. Click on the Add Fit Note option on the EMIS ribbon and select the option for Duplicate/Reprint Fit Note:
Ensure the appropriate fit note is selected and the Printer Name: field is set to Microsoft Print to PDF. Click on the Issue button.
Click Yes to continue to Print. Then save the document to a suitable location.
4. Send PDF document via Email or AccuRx (for AccuRx see below)
You are now ready to send the document to the patient using AccuRx.
Open the AccuRx App and ensure the correct patient is chosen. Then select Attach File and browse for the Fit Note file you saved
Write any appropriate text in the message box and click Send and Save. The Fit Note will be sent to the patient. They will receive a link to download it, for which they need their Date of Birth
The patient receives a text message with a link:
They click the link and are asked to enter their date of Birth:
This then opens the Fit Note on their screen.
This sends them the duplicate Fit Note. If you would prefer to issue a signed version, you can do this as follows (Note - You need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC).
Create a signed eMed3 for texting
