Ardens has produced SMI searches to help practices to monitor performance and identify outstanding work.

To access the searches navigate to the Population Reporting module > 5.35 Contracts - SMI Health Check > 2024-25 Contracts - SMI Health Check search folder:

Please note: The Ardens SMI Register search that these searches use, will be different from the ‘Public Health SMI’ CQRS data extraction searches because:

1. Patients with a coded "opt out" of "national data extractions" will be excluded from the Public Health SMI CQRS data extraction, not the Ardens SMI searches.

2. The "Public Health SMI" register only accepts patients with a diagnosis coded as a "new" or "first" problem type, but the Ardens searches also include patients coded with without a problem type, or with the "Review" or "Flare up" problem types. We have decided to include these patients in our suite because they are coded as having SMI therefore clinically require care.

There is now a new report that can be seen within the To Do – Work to do – 0.Registers folder that capture patients from the Ardens SMI register and those capture for the CQRS extract SMI register, to help with this:

These will show any gaps in the care for these patients by displaying the latest date each component was completed:

The 2024-25 Contracts - SMI Health Check folder is broken down by further sub folders.

The Info - Audit report displays how many SMI reviews have been completed in the last 12 months and quarter, along with other detailed information.

Once the report has been run, click on the View Results button on the EMIS ribbon to display.

Info – National Data Extraction Discrepancy folder – contains reports that captures SMI patients missing from the national extract:

SMI but missing from national extract report – this new report captures patients missing from the national extract due to the type of SMI episode they have been coded with, as explained above in point 2 of the please note section.

SMI but opted out of national data extraction report - this report shows patients who have opted out of the national data extraction if coded as such:

The Work done folder will monitor performance achieved.

The searches are based on patients currently on the practice SMI register, excluding patients recorded as 'in remission'.

The Work to do folder will identify outstanding work and will be broken down by core components, extra health check components, follow-up interventions, national screening, physical health checks completed, additional health checks, additional - mental health review elements, a data quality/incomplete review folder and case finder searches:

Once the searches have been run, patients to focus on in the Work to do folder will be displayed in the Population Included tab.

For fiscal year-end reporting, these searches need to be run with a relative run date of 1st April - the start of the next financial year.

Please note – the Ardens Mental Health Template is available to support practice recording data for SMI health checks.
